Fully insured, police-checked and holder of a Diploma in Professional Pet-sitting, Furry Feet offers a professional, approachable and trustworthy petcare service so you can be sure your furry friend is in safe hands when you can’t be with them.
Operating across central and south Manchester, Salford and Trafford, Furry Feet offers regular or occasional dog-walking, a cat-sitting service to keep your miaow company while you’re on holiday and small animal boarding at Furry Feet HQ. If you have a dog and are going away, a house-sitting service is also available on selected dates to save your canine chum a trip to the kennels.
Furry Feet is a member of NARP, the National Association of Registered Pet-Sitters – www.dogsit.com. This membership includes a 24/7 vet advice line and a £2million insurance policy for added peace of mind.
Furry Feet is owned and operated by myself, Lucy Palmer. After 12 years working in journalism and PR, doing everything from interviewing politicians to helping to launch new radio stations, I decided to follow my dream to work with animals and set up Furry Feet in 2008.
I have since been joined by my trusty right-hand-woman Jemma Redhead, a trustee of the RSPCA Manchester and Salford branch, who is now a valued member of the team. We are both out and about each day walking our lovely gang of pooches who range from Lurchers to Labradoodles and Bulldogs to Border Terriers.
I have had pets for over 20 years and, with my partner Marc, currently share our home with Lily the 13-year-old long-haired white cat, a snooze-loving kitten-like OAP who’s crazy for catnip. We also have Brian and Betty the rabbits who are inseparable and like nothing better than hopping round the garden together for a good explore. We also have a large tank of tropical fish.
I have volunteered at both Manchester Dogs’ Home and the Society for Abandoned Animals in Sale, looking after the rabbits, and have been a member of the PDSA for as long as I can remember.
To further my understanding of animal behavior and to add to my existing qualifications, I have passed (with distinction!) a Diploma in Professional Pet-sitting (run by www.coape.co.uk) and have also completed an animal first aid course. Jemma is currently studying for the same two qualifications.
